Devi Lal?s rath on a roll
Hoping to encash the legacy of Devi Lal, Chautala began his yatra on a make-shift 'rath'.
Rath yatras seem to be the flavour of the season. After Deputy PM L.K. Advani's Bharat Uday Yatra, INLD chief and Haryana chief minister O.P. Chautala has set out on a yatra to quell the saffron brigade's “feel good” and usher in a "green surge" (green is the INLD colour).
Hoping to encash the legacy of Tau Devi Lal, Chautala began his yatra on Saturday on a make-shift 'rath' (a converted Tata Tempo).
The Haryana CM is seeking to remind the state's peasantry of his commitment to Tau's ideals even as he flaunts his government's performance.
Traversing the arterial roads of Jhajjar district on way to Bhiwani, Chautala was welcomed by hordes of rural folk amidst a sea of green INLD flags. A beaming Chautala responded by launching a broadside against the "anti-farmer" NDA.
The cheering crowds extend material help to Chautala to take the battle of the ballot to its "rightful" conclusion. Garlands and wads of currency notes were offered as a gesture of support.
"I will use this money to fight for the farmers' cause," Chautala declared.
