The move will benefit thousands of motorists who travel from Noida to Delhi daily. As per a rough estimate, about 7,000 vehicles pass through the flyway during peak hours.

The Noida Toll Bridge Company Ltd (NTBCL), which manages the DND Flyway, announced that motorists travelling from Noida to Delhi would not have to pay toll between 9-10 am and 5-7 pm. The announcement came after a meeting between senior officials of the Noida police and the operator.

"On the recommendation of the Noida traffic police we have decided not to collect toll for three hours. No toll will be collected from commuters going to Delhi between 9-10 am and 5-7 pm. We will continue doing this till Kalindi Kunj bridge is thrown open to the public," said Anwar Abbasi, spokesperson, DND Flyway.
"However, commercial vehicles will have to pay the MCD toll," Abbasi said.

On Friday, the Noida police had requested the DND operator to make it toll-free during the peak hours to prevent long traffic jams. "The flyway operator has accepted our suggestions. It has been done in the public interest," said Praveen Kumar, senior superintendent of police.

According to DND officials, around 100 security guards have been deployed at the flyway to manage the traffic and additional three lanes added to avoid congestion.
Due to repair of Kalindi Kunj bridge, the Noida-Delhi carriageway will remain shut from January 23 to February 22. After the partial closure of the bridge, heavy traffic jams are being witnessed at Mahamaya flyover, Shahdara drain, Film City, Sector 15A, Sector 14A, Sector 37, DND and Noida gate.

The police had asked the DND operator to remove toll, after one Rakesh Jain, a commuter, lodged an FIR at the Sector 20 police station against the latter on Friday. Jain had alleged that he was stuck in a long jam on Thursday and could not take his friend Ashok, a heart patient, to AIIMS in Delhi. Later, he had to be admitted to a Noida hospital.
