With the arrest of three men, the police claimed to have solved the Ballimaran shooting case in north Delhi about a week ago.

Two young men received more than ten bullets when they went to save their brother Sadiq who had married a local goon’s niece. One of them, Tariq, succumbed to his injuries later.

On Thursday, the police arrested Mohammad Saleem (32) Wasim (22) and Sanu (21) for their involvement in the shooting. Two others, including the main accused Zargham who is a notorious criminal of the area, are still absconding.

Sadiq married Rubina, the niece of a dreaded criminal Zargham, more than a year ago against her family’s consent.

The couple, fearing a threat to their lives, fled from the area. They returned a fortnight ago.

On July 8, Zargham cornered Sadiq in one of the alleys of Ballimaran. While Sadiq managed to escape the bullets, his brothers Tariq and Tayyeb received bullets.

Rohini robbery case cracked

The Special Operation Squad (SOS) of Delhi Police has arrested three dreaded criminals for robbing a jewellery shop at gunpoint in Rohini three months ago.

On April 15, the three robbers identified as Ashwani, Manesh and Anil had barged in a jewellery shop in Rohini and robbed it of gold and diamond worth Rs 49 lakh. The trio had fled on a motorcycle and had fired several rounds in the air to scare the people.

All the accused persons have multiple cases of robberies and thefts registered against them in and around Delhi. “Gang leader Ashwani belongs to Palwal in Haryana. We arrested them when they were planning to commit another robbery in Rohini on Wednesday,” said Neeraj Thakur, DCP (Crime).

Five held for Dariba Kalan heist

Five men, including a former employee of a jeweller, have been arrested for cleaning his shop of valuables worth Rs 60 lakh last month.

The accused have been identified as Shayam Verma, Surender Kumar, Dhara Singh, Roop Chand and Brijesh. The police recovered Rs 30 lakh, 17 packets of diamonds, a gold brick and some duplicate keys from the possession of the accused. “The accused persons had entered the shop by using duplicate keys. Shayam Verma was the mastermind behind the crime,” said Devesh Chandra Srivastava, DCP (north).

Loot, murder of teacher solved

The police have arrested four men who shot dead a 41-year-old teacher when he resisted a robbery attempt at his house in Aman Vihar area of outer Delhi on July 6.

The accused identified as Shakeel Mohammad, Jai Kishan, Harihar and Ramu belong to eastern Uttar Pradesh and took to the crime to make easy money. The victim Suresh Kumar was shot at point bank range by one of the robbers whom he had caught while he was fleeing from the scene.

Seelampur shooting solved

Police have arrested a notorious criminal, who is involved in eleven cases, for opening fire in Seelampur area a day ago.

The accused identified as Yamin had a scuffle with a man on roadside. To scare him, he whipped out a revolver and accidentally pulled the trigger.

The stray bullet hit Javed who was returning home after purchasing slippers with his cousin on a motorcycle. Javed was admitted in a critical condition at GTB Hospital. Based on inputs by local people, Yamin was arrested.
