AN IRATE bull ran amok and created havoc near the Goel Crossing in Aliganj on Saturday. Five people were injured in the incident. Local residents said the bull went berserk after being bitten by a street dog. Traffic was thrown out of gear and total chaos prevailed in the area.
Two-wheeler riders abandoned their vehicles and ran for cover even as some passers-by took shelter in nearby shops and houses. The local residents called the police and LMC officials to catch the bull.
The area became deserted in minutes as no one dared to tackled the bull even as everyone waited for the LMC staff to arrive. However, when the LMC cattle-catchers arrived, a crowd gathered to watch. The LMC took well over thirty minutes to catch the bull. It was sent to Kanji House for further treatment.
According to local residents, the LMC was informed about the movements of the mad bull in their area but the LMC officials had, as usual, ignored their complaint.
Residents were angry at the lax attitude of the LMC cattle catchers.
Acting Municipal Commissioner Santosh Kumar said, “It’s regrettable that some people were injured by the bull. Anyone can inform the Chief Veterinary Officer of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (Dr AP Singh) on his mobile number 9336919004) about stray animals. We are always there to serve the the city.”
