Five of a family killed in accident

Five members of a family, including a child, were killed and two others sustained serious injuries when the car in which they were travelling collided with a truck near Jager bridge on Ludhiana-Malerkotla road, police said on Sunday.

The family was going back to their village after distributing Diwali gifts when the mishap occurred, police said adding, the deceased have been identified as Ajaib Singh, Rajinder Kaur, Parvin Singh, Surjan Singh and a three-year-old child Mehrban Singh.

The injured have been admitted to a local hospital where their condition was stated to be critical.
