After Hyderabad CBI, it's now the turn of their Bangalore counterpart to grill mining baron Gaali Janardhana Reddy. It may be noted that CBI (Bangalore) had filed an FIR, in the first week of November, against the Associated Mining Company, owned by wife of jailed Janardhana Reddy, in connection with its ongoing probe into illegal mining. The CBI has also named 21 people in the FIR filed before the designated court in Bangalore.

Armed with the body warrant a team of Bangalore CBI sleuths left to Hyderabad and brought him to Bangalore to question him in connection with a mining case which they have registered against him in October last year. Though it was a open court, the media is barred to cover the proceedings.

City based CBI court had issued a body warrant to Janardhana Reddy in a case filed in the state, which was referred by Supreme Court. CBI had registered cases against two mining firms including Associated Mining Company owned by arrested former minister G Janardhana Reddy's wife Aruna Lakshmi, following a series of raids conducted in Bellary, Bangalore and Davanagere recently.

Raids were also conducted on the premises of Kudligi MLA B Nagendra while a case was booked against Deccan Mining Company, which has business links with AMC, highly placed CBI sources said.

The raids followed by cases were filed following Supreme Court orders, which directed CBI to investigate illegal mining in Karnataka on basis of a Central Empowered Committee report. CBI is already investigating illegal mining in Andhra Pradesh. Janardhana and his brother-in-law Sreenivasa Reddy, the Managing Director of Obulapuram Mining Corporation (OMC) were arrested on August 5 from Bellary and have been lodged in Chanchalaguda prison in Hyderbad since then.
