Four arrested in Muslim girl's murder case

Four persons were arrested on Sunday in connection with the killing of a Muslim minor girl on New Year's Eve in Udgir tehsil of Latur district, police said.

The police in-charge of the village Mohan Bhosale has also been arrested for alleged dereliction of duty.

An official in Latur district told PTI that the post-mortem of the 14-year-old girl has not revealed any indication of rape, as was alleged in the complaint filed by her family members.

The viscera samples are now being sent to Aurangabad for further tests, official said.

The girl was allegedly raped and murdered on New Year eve, but her family members lodged a complaint only on Saturday. The incident also led to angry protests by a mob in which 14 persons were injured.
