Four arrested under NDPS Act in Jalandhar
The district police claim to have arrested four people under NDPS Act with the recovery of 7.5 kilogram of charas from their possession.
The district police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested four persons under NDPS Act with the recovery of 7.5 kilogram of charas from their possession.
"Acting a specific tip off, CIA staff of the district police intercepted two persons near local Bus stand and personal search of the duo led to the recovery of 5.5 kilogram of contraband," police sources said adding that the both identified as Kumar Gaurav and Rakesh Kumar both residents of Amrik Nagar of the city, were immediately arrested.
"During their preliminary interrogation, the duo revealed the name of their two more accomplices identified as Jagdish Chand and Sunil Kumar, both residents of Dulhousie of Himachal Pradesh and accordingly raid was conducted near Pathankot bypass and they were arrested with the recovery of two kilogram of charas from their possession," sources added.
"It was came to light during investigation, that the accused used to bring the contraband from Himachal Pradesh to further sell the same to the petty consumers of the district," police said adding that investigation was till on to identify other links both in HP and Punjab in the trade.
"A case under NDPS act was registered against all the accused in the concerned police station and they were being produced before the court to seek their police remand," sources added.
