Free asthma, allergy camp to be held today

There will be free tests of chest diseases on computer as well as PEFR test along with asthma and allergy education programme at the camp. Informative booklets pertaining to asthma will also be distributed to patients. The patients will also be taught about some natural supportive remedies for their diseases.
They will be examined by chest and asthma specialist Dr Gaurav Agarwal. He said the problem of running nose, blocked nose, sneezing, itchy eyes and cough usually increased with seasonal changes. That is why the centre had launched ‘Khulee Naak-Khulee saans’ awareness programme for these patients, who constituted upto 10 per cent of the population. About 80 per cent asthmatics had co-existent allergic rhinitis which tended to increase asthma. “Very good treatment of asthma-allergy is available these days and if proper treatment is given to people, they can lead an absolutely normal life,” he added.
Ayurved camp: As many as 350 patients were examined on the first day of the two-day free ayurved camp organised by Jeevan Jyoti hospital here on Saturday. Patients suffering from various chronic ailments including joint pain, diabetes, obesity and abdominal disorders were examined and provided free treatment at the camp.
The patients were examined by a doctors’ team led by Ayurvedacharya Dr SK Rai, who advised the people to follow a proper lifestyle and to strike a balance between aahar (diet) nidra (sleep) and bramhacharya (lifestyle). He said due to lack of awareness and care, most of the people were found taking an unbalanced diet and were not taking proper sleep.
Polio corrective surgery: Poplio corrective surgery was performed on about 81 patients on the concluding day of the three-day mega polio corrective surgery camp at Tej Bahadur Sapru (Beli) Hospital on Saturday. In this way, surgery was performed on a total of 211 polio victims in the last two days by the doctor’s team led by Dr Girish Gupta and Dr Arun Jain of Pt Din Dayal Upadhyay Viklang Jan Sansthan. The doctors will visit the city again after 15 days to examine the patients operated upon.
Camp incharge Dr Sandeep Chowdhary said the camp was successful due to the help they received from members of civil defence, staff nurses, matron and X ray technician Taufeeq AhmedHealth mela concludes: The three day health mela at community health centre Shankargarh concluded on Saturday. As many as 10,000 patients were examined free by the doctors’ team deputed by the district health department.
