"As the coach, I am very frustrated. But, I should not take such steps (resignation) under such circumstances. Let me think about it," Rajinder said.

After the disappointing show of the Indian hockey team at the 18th Commonwealth Games, a "frustrated" Rajinder Singh on Wednesday said he could consider stepping down from the position of national coach.

"Such performance by our team creates frustration. The attackline has been the biggest problem for us right from the Champions Trophy," the coach said after India failed to make it to the semi-finals of the quadrennial sporting extravaganza.

"As the coach, I am very frustrated. But, I should not take such steps (resignation) under such circumstances. Let me think about it," Rajinder said when asked about the possibility of his calling it quits after the dismal show by his team.

Not known for making his feelings public, Rajinder vent his ire on the strikers saying the forwardline had been the biggest letdown for the team in Melbourne.

Pointing out that there was no consistency in the performance of the team, he felt that the team failed to click from the start of the mega event.

"Our start against Malaysia itself was not good. We should have won that match but our forwards were to be blamed for that. They were not able to trap properly," he added.

"The same problem continued against Pakistan. We had ten chances and Pakistan had five. But they converted most of them but we failed miserably. A coach can only give guidance, plan schemes on match situations but the players do not seem to put all these into effect for positive results," he said.

The Indian coach, however, declined to comment on the possibility of 'foul play' in the other league match between Pakistan and Malaysia, whose result prevented India from entering the last four stage.

"As a coach I have nothing to say on such matters. But people around in the stadium were talking like that," he said.
