Union minister of road transport, highways and shipping Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate a stretch of the much-delayed 136-km Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) expressway at Palwal on Tuesday.
Union minister of road transport, highways and shipping Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate a stretch of the much-delayed 136-km Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) expressway at Palwal on Tuesday.
The 53-km stretch will connect NH-2 (Mathura Road) at Kuslipur in Palwal with Panchgam village on NH-8 (Delhi-Jaipur road) near Manesar in Gurgaon district, making commuting shorter between the two districts.
Traffic from Mathura and Agra and headed for Gurgaon, Manesar or Jaipur can now use this route instead of entering Delhi and vice versa, saving time and money.
The KMP and the 135-km Kundli-Ghaziabad-Palway expressways will form a ring road around Delhi to allow diesel trucks and commercial vehicles to bypass the capital. It will help decongest the city and reduce pollution.
The KMP or the western peripheral expressway will pass through Palwal, Gurgaon, Mewat, Jhajjar and Sonepat districts. The eastern peripheral expressway will connect Kundli, Ghaziabad, Gautam Budh Nagar and Palwal.
“The union minister and the Haryana chief minister will take a round of the KMP road and travel to the toll plaza where officials will make a a presentation on the road,” deputy commissioner of Palwal Ashok Sharma said.
“Nitin Gadkari and Manohar Lal Khattar will reach the Sector 2 HUDA grounds where a public rally has been organised,” the official said, adding, “The KMP road will be inaugurated through remote at the same venue”.
Members of Faridabad and Gurgaon Parliamentary constituencies will be present at the function.
“It is a blessing for Palwal as this road will increase commercial activity in our district. When the entire KMP road is commissioned, Faridabad, Palwal, Gurgaon, Manesar, Sonepat and Mewat will become hubs of business activities,” said Hardeep Mahajan, chief patron of Palwal Chamber of Commerce.
“We have made elaborate security arrangements for inauguration ceremony,” said Mamta Singh, inspector general of police, Rewari Range.
