Govt nod to Rs 5,195 crore power project

The Delhi Cabinet gave its nod to the financial pattern for the Rs 5,195.81 crore Pragati Phase-III Bawana Power Project.

The Delhi Cabinet on Monday gave its nod to the financial pattern for the Rs 5,195.81 crore Pragati Phase-III Bawana Power Project. Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh had laid the foundation stone of 1500 MW gas-based power station on March 24 this year.

Talking to reporters, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said the Bawana power station is an environment-friendly project, which would help in curbing pollution in Delhi. She said the commissioning of this project would go a long way in ensuring uninterrupted power supply in the city.

The Pragati Power Corporation (PPCL) has taken up the work of establishment of 1,500 MW combined cycle gas turbine power project. Gas sale agreement with GAIL, IOC and Bharat Petroleum Corporation for supply for a period of 15 year has already been signed.
