Guj govt had leads about Ahmedabad serial blasts: Congress
Congress leader Arjun Modhvadia accused the Gujarat government of failing to act on state intelligence bureaur’s tip off about the Ahmedabad blasts in July last.
Congress leader Arjun Modhvadia on Wednesday accused the Gujarat government of failing to act on state intelligence bureaur’s tip off about the Ahmedabad blasts in July last.
Speaking in the state assembly, Modhvadia said the state IB officials had inputs about terrorists’ plan to carry out serial blasts in Ahmedabad but the state government did not act on those inputs.
He alleged that on May 18, 2008, state IB official B F Kumpavat had sent a report to the state IB head in which he had said that a radical group called Indian Mujahedin is planning to carry out blasts in Ahmedabad and other cities in the country.
He said the IB official, in his report, had mentioned that a conspiracy was being hatched in Sabarmati central jail from where calls were regularly being made to Pakistan.
“This information was available with the state IB and police three to two months before serial blasts in Ahmedabad,” he claimed, adding the home department never bothered to act on the IB report.
