HC asks home ministry to decide CID report in Yunus case
The Bombay HC directs the home ministry to decide whether it wants to prosecute police officers allegedly involved in the death of bomb blast accused Khwaja Yunus.
The Bombay High Court has directed the home ministry to decide within eight weeks whether it wants to prosecute police officers allegedly involved in the death of bomb blast accused Khwaja Yunus.
Public prosecutor (PP) Satish Borulkar told the court that the Director General of Police has already sent his recommendations to the home ministry on June 26 along with the investigation papers sent by the state CID.
"After going through the papers the government will make decision regarding granting sanction to prosecute the concerned officers," said Borulkar. The HC has kept the matter on September 3 when the PP has to inform the government's decision.
A division bench of Justice RMS Khandeparkar and Justice VK Tahilramani has kept the petition filed by suspended police sub inspector Sachin Waze, who was arrested by CID for his alleged involvement in killing Yunus, seeking quashing of the FIR against him on July 12.
