The Bench issued the notice to the Director General (prisons) asking him to submit the relevant details and records to the court while posting the matter to March 30.

The directions were issued by the bench, which took suo motu cognisance of the reports that the MP despite being lodged in the Tihar Jail was enjoying all comforts and facilities befitting a VVIP.

It was alleged that Yadav who is facing charges in several criminal cases in Bihar had free access to cell phones, liquor, unrestricted food, TV and visitors in the jail.

The MP's free run in the prison is attributed to the alleged connivance of a section of the prison officials and high connections with the political powers.
