IAF airlifts 850 people from flood-hit areas
Nearly 850 persons have been airlifted so far from the flood affected regions of Jammu and Kashmir. Of this, 401 were evacuated on Saturday.

On Sunday, one C-17 Globemaster aircraft was sent from Delhi to Awantipur in the Valley with RAMT (Rapid Action Medical Team). Two IL 76 aircraft with medical supplies and boats have taken off from the Palam Air Force base for Srinagar.
Besides this, one IL-76 with teams of NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) personnel has also taken off from the Palam air base for Srinagar. Three C-130J Super Hercules special operations aircraft have been pressed into service to transport boats from Pune and Gandhinagar to Srinagar. Another plane with 100,00 blankets and 3,000 tents from Kanpur has left for J&K.
A total of 12 AN-32, four IL-76, five C-130J and two C-17 transport aircraft of the IAF have been pressed into operations.
Meanwhile, 26 IAF helicopters are operating in the region.
