IED blast foiled in Srinagar
An attempt by militants to set off IED explosion near a polling booth was foiled by police just after polling began.
An attempt by militants to set off IED explosion near a polling booth was foiled by police in downtown city on Monday shortly after commencement of the polling in Srinagar parliamentary constituency, official sources said.
An Improvised Explosive Device was detected on the main road near a school building a Zadibal around 8.30 am, the sources said.
They said bomb disposal squad was summoned immediately and the IED was neutralized.
Last night, militants also attacked three polling stations in Badgam district of central Kashmir which forms part of Srinagar parliamentary constituency wounding six BSF personnel and a taxi driver.
A grenade was thrown inside Panzan polling booth last night injuring the BSF personnel and the taxi driver
Polling station at Ratsun and Waterhail in Badgam also came under militant attack last night but none was hurt, the source added.
