IIM-B campus hiring in second week, for first time
Campus hiring at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore, has been extended to next week to make sure that all the 250-odd graduates are signed up during the placement season. BR Srikanth reports.
Campus hiring at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore, has been extended to next week to make sure that all the 250-odd graduates are signed up during the placement season.
This is the first time that the process of recruitment, which commenced on a sedate note on February 27, has spilled over to second week.
“The most important consideration is that all of us get placed, and not compare ourselves with our friends in other IIMs. Everybody knows that things (economic gloom) are no longer as good as they were in the past, so we need not worry about the time factor,” one student explained,
“A very few of us are yet to be placed, but the process will be completed next week.”
One positive this year is the increase in the number of public sector undertakings (PSUs) showing up this year as compared with that of previous years. However, the names of PSUs were not disclosed by the student.
Prof Sourav Mukherji. chairperson of the placement cell, said, “Companies will be visiting the campus over the next few days for placements. There are several (invited) companies visiting the campus next week and we will continue the process to host them.”
All information about companies, number of recruitments, and details of sector-wise hiring will be given out on completion of the process of placements. Last year, 130 graduates were hired on day one with the entire process of recruitment of 256 (51 women) completed in three days.
