Ruchir Joshi made a scathing attack on India’s  racist psyche. Given the social stratification in our country along caste, creed and power, this is but natural.

Anguish at the fact gets us nowhere. The lamentable point is that there is no ‘opinion leadership’ in our country that will force changes in society’s mindset.

Police on mute

After Jessica Lall, Mehar Bhargav is another victim of our inefficient, lazy and corrupt policing (Mehar can’t be another Jessica, March 27). The former suffered from an unfair trial due to tampering of evidence, while in the latter’s case, the police failed to act in time even though she was shot near a senior policeman’s home. The police remain helpless.

Dope horror

Once again the country’s head hangs in shame because of two Indian weightlifters who tested positive for banned steroids at the Commonwealth Games.

Clearly, it shows enough is not being done to tackle the illegal use of performance-enhancing drugs. Indian Weightlifting Federation should take strict measures in this case.
