'India can't be strongest with spin alone'

Ricky Ponting, dissapointed with the Mumbai pitch, said India's cricket would be better served with wickets, such as the one prepared in Nagpur.

Australian skipper Ricky Ponting, disappointed with Wankhede Stadium pitch, said India's ambitions of becoming the strongest team in the world would not come true as long as their home curators prepare pitches to suit only their spinners.

Ponting said the country's cricket would be better served with wickets, such as the one prepared in Nagpur.

"You only have to listen to Rahul Dravid's comments after the Nagpur match. He thought that was a good wicket, and that young Indian players should be brought up playing on those sort of wickets," he was quoted as saying by the Sydney Morning Herald website on Saturday.

Extremely irked with the outcome of the fourth and final Test which India won by 13 runs in Mumbai, the Australian captain, who flew in only for that match after recovering from thumb-injury, said he was considering making an official complain about the "sub-standard" wicket in his post match report.
