India, Pak, Iran talks on gas pipeline from Aug 3-4
The main issues under discussion include those relating to gas pricing and project structure.
The officials of India, Pakistan and Iran will meet on August 3-4 to discuss pricing of natural gas that Tehran wants to sell to the energy-hungry south Asian countries through a tri-nation pipeline.
"As of now, various issues relating to the Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project are being discussed between the three countries at the tripartite Secretary-level Working Group Meetings. So far two such meetings have been held.
The third meeting is scheduled to be held during August 3-4 at New Delhi," Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dinsha Patel said in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha in New Delhi.
The main issues under discussion include those relating to gas pricing and project structure, he said.
Petroleum Ministry sources said the last meeting of oil secretaries of the three countries in Islamabad on May 22-23 broke off after Iran sought a price linked to international crude oil for the natural gas it wants to sell to India and Pakistan through the over 7 billion dollar pipeline.
