He has been charged with murder and will appear before the Birmingham Magistrates Court on Friday morning, officials told PTI.

The police on Thursday named the 23-year-old woman from Vijayawada as Samrajyo Jyothirmai Vempala, who was in the UK on a study visa, attending a postgraduate course in health sciences at the University of Wolverhampton.

A post-mortem examination has established that she died as a result of head injuries. Jyothirmai was staying along with three other students in a private house rented by them in Handsworth area of Birmingham, 18 km from the Wolverhampton campus.

The police have not released any further details about the incident, but said forensic tests were carried out at the premises and nearby houses.

Jyothirmai's neighbours told the media that it seemed like it was a fight between two persons and while four people were living in the house, only two persons were there at the time of the incident.
