"The IB managed to get Yasin Bhatkal and Asadullah Akhtar alias Haddi from Nepal. Tehseen Akhtar alias Monu was also arrested. Monu's Pakistani associate Waqas was picked from Dhaka. With their arrests, the IM is almost decimated in the country. Haidar Ali, the man allegedly behind the Bodh Gaya and Patna blasts was also arrested along with his associates. Abdul Karim Tunda, wanted for more than 20 years, was also put behind bars. Even Ramandeep Singh, an accused in blast and murder case in Punjab was deported back to India," an IB official recapped the big catches during Ibrahim's tenure.

Sources say after hanging his boots as spy-in-chief, Ibrahim plans to return to his native city Kanpur. "When you are growing, one tends to spread his stuff beyond the bedroom, to the drawing room and garden but as you turn older, the tendency is to bring back all those things back to the bedroom," Ibrahim is learnt to have told those who asked about his future plans.

Besides the anti-terror front, Ibrahim had to fight another battle which once engulfed his organisation.

"He put up a spirited fight for Rajinder Kumar, a senior IB official who the CBI wanted to arrest in the Ishrat Jahan case. Though, Kumar was chargesheeted in the case, but Ibrahim put his foot down before the political bosses to save the serving IB official from going to jail," said the IB official.
