Inter-school TT: Pooja, Paridhi storm into final

MEET MEHTA, Prayag Sharma, Varsha Havaldar and Apeksha Bhagawat have sailed into the finals in the interschool table tennis tournament organised by Indore District Table Tennis Association for ‘Indore Bank Trophy’

The individual events started from Sunday. In Class I to VI category, Meet Mehta of St Paul School defeated Prakhar Jain of Daly College in a thrilling match by 8-11, 6-11, 12-10, 13-11 and 13-11.

In the second semifinal, Prayag Sharma of Vaishnav Academy defeated Viraj Havaldar of SICA School by 11-4, 10-12, 11-5 and 11-5 to enter the final.

In the Class X to XII girls’ event, Pooja Sharma of National Public School shocked Priyanka Iyer of St Raphael’s by 11-7, 11-9, 11-7 and in the second semifinal Paridhi of Sri Gujarati Samaj English Medium School beat Vidhi Mehta of St Raphael’s in a thrilling match by 11-4, 8-11, 11-9, 5-11 and 11-8 to advance to the finals.

Boys’ quarterfinals matches were played for Classes VII to IX and Classes X to XII. The finals will be played tomorrow. State Bank of Indore General Manager (CI&B) M C Jacob will be the chief guest, while Deputy General Manager N K Nagar will preside over the function.
