Is it safe to drive from Delhi to Nainital? I plan to spend two nights at Nainital, and one in Bhimtal. Can a person who usually drives in the plains manage to drive on the roads in and around Nainital? Is it possible to start on early on a Monday and return by Tuesday evening?

Delhi to Nainital is an easy route and you will face no major issues. Just leave early enough in the morning, so that you can cross the troublesome Gajrola patch before the traffic kicks in. The roads are pretty smooth the rest of the way, except in the few places where flyovers are being constructed. Take the bypass toll roads all along.
