To enter the software segment, you need a sound knowledge of programming languages such as Java, C, C++, Visual Basic, .NET, while to enter the information security sector, one needs to know programming languages as well as gain an understanding of how data is managed and transferred over computer networks.
"Technical skills are entry barriers without which you cannot enter the industry," said Madhu Bhojwani, CEO of Emmay HR. "But as one climbs up the career ladder, the emphasis is increasingly on soft skills such as communication, leadership, speed, turn-around time, etc."
