J&K Government is confused: Omar

National Conference President Omar Abdullah feels that the present Congress- PDP coalition Government in Jammu and Kashmir is “ confused” and spreading confusion on the crucial issues in the State.

Omar Abdullah whose is the single largest party in the State Assembly (25 seats) did not attend an all parties meet in Srinagar on Saturday , which, he said, he had no plans to attend . But he felt strongly that it appeared the coalition government was " confused" and had no idea as to what it was doing and in what direction.

He said that National Conference is keen to know what and why of the government on crucial issues. "We are unable to comprehend as to why the government was duplicating efforts on some of the critical issues , which are already being discussed and deliberated upon at big and more effective forums.”

Talking to Hindustan Times , he clarified that he, in any case, was not to attend the all parties meet on Delimitation Commission and grant of citizenship rights to refugees of 1947.

"These are the issues already under discussion in the working groups constituted by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh last year. Their recommendations were being deliberated upon." What is the point of constituting new groups and committees and duplicating the effort. This is sheer confusion spreading exercise,” he said.

Omar Abdullah said that National Conference's problem with the government arises when it picks up the same issues for a discussion at different forums. "That is where the puzzle of what and why of the government crops up and results in muddle all through."

He said that the State’s constitution offered the roadmap on the issues that were deliberated upon at the meeting .“Why discuss , what is already laid out in black and white.”
