Jalabhishek drive touches 200 villages
SEVERAL CONVENTIONS, Jal Yatra and other programmes under the ?Jalabhishek Abhiyan? would conclude tomorrow. The campaign that took off on April 14 has reached more than 200 villages through various programmes till now. District Collector Vivek Aggarwal informed that the conventions and meetings were held to spread awareness about water conservation measures among villagers.
SEVERAL CONVENTIONS, Jal Yatra and other programmes under the ‘Jalabhishek Abhiyan’ would conclude tomorrow. The campaign that took off on April 14 has reached more than 200 villages through various programmes till now. District Collector Vivek Aggarwal informed that the conventions and meetings were held to spread awareness about water conservation measures among villagers.
He said that around 30 officers of district-level were appointed for effective execution of the Yatra, conventions and meetings in Gram and Janpad Panchayats.
The officers discussed possibilities of water storage with the villagers and suggested the best options to them. The rural people were encouraged to plan projects for water conservation with the support of funds available with the Gram Panchayat. Plans for the coming financial year were decided in the meetings with village officials and public.
Gramin Jalabhishek Samitis would be formed in each village to carry out various activities to save water round the year. Sarpanch would possibly head the committee. The construction and storage projects depend on existing water resources in respective villages.
