Dharampur, the last Maoist stronghold in Lalgarh, had been deserted by Sunday evening. The security forces were planning the final operation to take control over Lalgarh.
Forces from both sides, Ramgarh and Lalgarh police stations, will move in early Monday, sources in the state police said. Their destination is Katapahari, located somewhere in between Ramgarh and Lalgarh connected by a 14-km road.
Central forces had entered Lalgarh police station on June 19 and Ramgarh on June 27. It is expected that after a 48-hour long operation the joint forces will regain control over entire Lalgarh. To pre-empt the charge, Maoists fired several rounds at the Ramgarh police camp on Saturday night.
The biggest success of the day came around 9 a.m. Sunday with the arrest of two Maoists from Sarenga. Land mines and a 9 mm pistol and cartridges were seized from them.
They were laying mines between Belepole and Kargil More at Sarenga. The arrested Maoists, whose names were not given by the security agencies, are wanted for the murder of three policemen.
