The second year law student of the college -- Prashant Chitalkar--- who stayed at its hostel here and gone back to his native place for Diwali vacation last year, jumped into a well there to end his life, according to a complaint filed by his father with Rahuri police which alleged that the deceased was subjected to ragging by the seniors.
Dr N M Kulkarni, Vice principal of the college run by Deccan Education Society (DES) told PTI that the student, who did not report after the vacation, had not filed any complaint of ragging with the college authorities.
"We have no information about the incident and there is no communication from police to college authorities in this connection," he said, adding that the tragedy could have occurred due to a possible domestic problem.
Committed suicide in Khadambe Rahuri taluka where he had gone to his uncle's place. He ended his life by jumping in a well, police said even the ragging angle could not be ruled out.
Ahmednagar Additional Deputy Superintendent of Police Sunil Kadasane had said they are also investigating if ragging was a reason behind Prashant committing suicide. Prashant is the son of a police constable.
