Many students consider exams as a sword of Damocles hanging over them while some think that it's like a video game where they just have to cross the final level. But is there any sure shot way of tackling exams? Well, every student is different so would be there ways of tackling exams. But I believe that there are some basics that we, students, need to get right.

First, we need to stop demonising examinations and realise that assessment is an integral part of learning process. The purpose of this assessment is to know that we have grasped the concept and so that we learn to question intellectually.

Second, it is very important for students to remain positive. Whenever negative thoughts creep into our mind, we must just close our eyes and say 'I am cool'. This funda always works.

Third, we don't need to study all the time. We need to study smartly and prioritise subjects according to strengths and weaknesses. All subjects don't require equal priority. This will ensure that we have a better and effective study plan in place. But without hard work this plan won't work.

Fourth, full concentration is a must. Remember quality and not number of hours matter. Even if you study for three-four hours, do your best.

Fifth, don't hesitate to talk to your parents about the problems that you are facing while studying. Parents' viewpoint will help you know where you are lacking.

Last but not the least, we need to stay true to ourselves. We know where we stand so there's no need to set unrealistic goals. We must remember we are our own competition and nobody else.
