Lightning strikes kill 6, hurt 2 across Vidisha district

Six people lost their lives and two others were injured in separate cases of lightning strikes in Vidisha district. The district administration announced a compensation of Rs 1.5 lakh each to the next kin of the deceased.

Six people lost their lives and two others were injured in separate cases of lightning strikes in Vidisha district on Saturday evening.

Five people who were standing in the open outside their home at Gyaraspur area were struck by lightning. Three of them were declared dead when they were rushed to the hospital. The deceased include Kiran Adiwasi (15), Kamla (32) and Tikaram (17), while Heera Adiwasi (36) and Kalyan Singh (35) were admitted with burn injuries.

The district administration announced a compensation of Rs 1.5 lakh each to the next kin of the deceased.

In another lightning strike incident in Nateran area of Vidisha, Vijay Singh Rajpoot, 40, was hurt when he was working at his farm.

The third fatal lightning strike took place late in the evening in Sironj, in which a woman Munni Yadav (45) and a minor Moti Yadav (15), were killed.
