The Sports Minister also assured to get the cabinet's nod for a Rs 20 crore shooting range.

"All construction work will go in full swing this year and next year and I expect it to be complete by November 2009 so that we can organise some test events before the Games," said Gill, after reviewing the progress at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here.

Asked if he was satisfied with what he saw, Gill said, "I will be a satisfied man only after the successful hosting of the Games. Lot of work has been completed but in the coming days there is plenty to be done."

Apart from Nehru stadium, Gill also inspected the progress work at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range, Indira Gandhi Stadium and Dr SPM Swimming Pool Complex and met officials from Sports Authority of India, Central Public Works Department, Urban Development and Sports Ministry, besides engineers and consultants.

Stressing on the need to make a collective effort to complete the work as early as possible, Gill said he would take stock of the progress on a monthly basis.

"In the first week of every month I've started meeting all the stakeholders, including Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, SAI, DDA, NDMC etc to take stock of the situation. We all are committed to make the Games a grand success."

Gill's statement came a day after the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs had sanctioned a Rs 678 crore scheme for training country's medal prospects for the 2010 Games.

The Sports Minister also assured to get the cabinet's nod for a Rs 20 crore shooting range.

"Most of the finances in regard to the Games have already been sanctioned, except for an amount of Rs 20 crore for the shooting range. But in the coming months, I will get it sanctioned from the Cabinet. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has assured me all possible help for the smooth and successful conduct of the Games," Gill said.
