After widespread outrage over the rape and murder of three minor sisters at Murmadi village near Lakhni, another schoolgirl was allegedly raped by her teacher in Bhandara district.
The incident happened on February 20, but came to light on Friday. The teacher called the Class 7 student of a primary school to the local panchayat office on the pretext of giving her a cycle and raped her. He then dumped the girl near the village. Later, angry villagers stormed the school looking for the teacher, but he escaped. They then lodged a formal complaint at Palandur police station.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra home minister RR Patil, former BJP president Nitin Gadkari and the state BJP women’s wing chief Neeta Kelkar visited Murmadi-Sawari village on Friday and met Madhuri Borkar, the mother of the three minor girls who were raped and murdered on February 14.
Even after eight days the police have failed to trace the culprits.
