Man denied bail in acid attack case
A man accused of throwing acid on two girls in their home in south Delhi has been denied bail by a court.
A man accused of throwing acid on two girls while they were asleep in their home in south Delhi has been denied bail by a court.
After hearing arguments and going through the records, Additional Sessions Judge V K Bansal said that he was not inclined to grant bail. Faizy Alam was arrested in the case on March 22.
Counsel for the accused, Manoj Sharma pleaded that there was no evidence against Alam in the case and the girls have also not named him in their statement before the court.
"When the girls were sleeping, somebody poured acid on them. The accused is not named in their statement. Further, no test identification parade was conducted in the case," Sharma said.
He sought the release of the accused on bail stating that there was no evidence to link him with the offence.
Opposing the bail application, Additional public prosecutor Ahmad Khan, said that the accused should not be released in view of the gravity of the offence.
A case was registered in the Amar Colony police post on the complaint of victims-- Mona and Ashu-- alleging that the accused had thrown acid on them when they were sleeping in their house.
The FIR was lodged invoking Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 120B (criminal conspiracy), 452 (house trespass) of the IPC.
The police, acting on their complaints, had arrested Alam and another woman accused Simran Kaur on March 22. Kaur, however, was released on interim bail by a Metropolitan Magistrate.
