World champion on floor and the vault he is a medal contender in both the apparatus at the Athens Olympics. He wants to create his own mark and is determined not to get overshadowed by the more popular female gymnasts.
Dragulescu's performances contributed to Romania's dominance at the 2004 European Championships in Slovenia. His three individual gold medals, the team's victory, plus Ioan Suciu's victory on the pommel horse gave Romania five of eight possible European titles.
Getting on top of the podium in Athens isn't Dragulescu's only aim as the 23-year-old also wants to perform the feat first achieved by Nadia Comaneci in 1976.
He would be looking forward to do his country proud in the event in which the women have so far dominated scenario. Injuries interrupted his training for several stretches, but Dragulescu hasn't let that stop him from accumulating 10 World and European championship medals since Sydney, eight of them gold. And to crown it all he is aiming to win the gold at Athens.
