Maya victimising police officer: Amar Singh
SP leader Amar Singh accused UP CM Mayawati of victimising a police officer who probed charges that she held assets disproportionate to her income.
Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh on Sunday accused Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati of victimising a police officer who probed charges that she held assets disproportionate to her income.
Addressing a press conference in Mumbai, Amar Singh said the Uttar Pradesh inspector, Dhirendra Rai, was recalled from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) after Maywati came back to power in May last year.
"He was victimised for his honesty and cases were slapped (against) him," Amar Singh said.
He challenged Mayawati to come clean on the charges.
Amar Singh, however, denied the allegations that the CBI last week moved ahead in the case against Mayawati at the behest of the Samajwadi Party, which is now backing Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's government.
He said that on the contrary, the Mayawati government had tried to victimise Samajwadi Party leaders by slapping false cases against them.
