Medicos take out rally

MEDICAL STUDENTS of the Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS-BHU) organised a ?maharally? under the banner of Resident Doctors? Association, here on Thursday. The maharally was part of the ongoing nationwide anti-reservation agitation. The procession was taken out from the BHU. Members of other social organisations such as Indian Medical Association, Manishi Parishad, Brahman Hitkarini Sabha, students of Udai Pratap Degree College and Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth participated.

The procession was taken out from the BHU. Members of other social organisations such as Indian Medical Association, Manishi Parishad, Brahman Hitkarini Sabha, students of Udai Pratap Degree College and Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth participated.

The demonstrators carried posters and banners with messages like ‘Sarkar ki niti nek ho, desh hamara ek ho’ and ‘Youth for equality, don’t compromise quality’.

The agitators raised anti-government and anti-Arjun Singh slogans to register their protest. Members of the Brahman Hitkarini Sabha performed a ‘Buddhi-Shuddhi Yagya’ at the IMS Gate before the rally started. The rally was kicked off from IMS Gate and after passing from Lanka, Ravidas Gate and Assi area culminated at Assi ghat late in the evening.  

The BHU administration had deployed a large number of security personnel to avoid entry of outsiders on the campus.  Later, a meeting was held at Assi ghat in which speakers flayed the Union government.  A total of six students of IMS-BHU sat on a 48-hour relay hunger strike on the second consecutive day today.

Sources said condition of two students Dr Neha Kakani and Dr Baldeep Kaur Maan deteriorated during relay hunger strike .

Medical assistance was provided through parallel OPD.

Meanwhile, State Minority, Harijan and Backward Organisation (Uttar Pradesh) would organise a pro-reservation meet at Lallapura area in Varanasi on Friday. Mewalal Prajapti informed former MP Rajnath Sonekar Shashtri, Ram Nihore Rai, Satnam Singh and Jagdish Verma would participate.

Akhil Bharatiya Kayastha Mahasabha activists staged a dharna against the quota issue at Azad Park in Lahurabeer on Thursday.

The activists said instead of providing reservation in higher education, the government should ensure better education facilities at primary level to deprived class students.
