The Haryana Civil Medical Services Association (HCMSA) condemned the manhandling of government doctors and other health staff at community health centre (CHC) at Narnaund in Hisar, on Friday.
In a statement, HCMSA president Kuldeep Singh said the medics were disturbed over the incident and were feeling insecure.
"Doctors and health officials have been doing community service by distributing iron and folic acid tablets. The side effects of the tablets were explained by the health and education department in advance," Singh said, adding that "The doctors were doing their job when a mob of miscreants thrashed them and destroyed the government vehicles and property.
He said even after this shocking and unfortunate incident, no action had been taken against the miscreants. If these miscreants were not arrested and booked immediately, the progress of various community health programme launched by the government would be hampered, the HCMSA chief said.
"The HCMSA state executive has sought registration of criminal cases against the miscreants failing which we will be constraint to boycott the programme and start agitation,'' Singh said.
The association also demanded that National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) state headquarters should launch advocacy campaign through media regarding necessity of supplementation of iron and folic acids in children.
