Mimoh's debut venture to release in April
Come April and Mithun Chakraborty’s son Mimoh will finally make his debut with Raj N Sippy's Jimmy, expected to hit the screens, either on April 18 or April 25.
Come April and Mithun Chakraborty’s son Mimoh will finally make an appearance on screen. Raj N Sippy asserts that his
Jimmy
will hit the screens, either on April 18 or April 25.
“The film is complete. The first copy is out. We’ve struck a deal with Sahara. Mimoh’s debut is assured,” says Sippy. He’s already busy with another film with Mimoh.
Murderer
is almost complete except for two songs that will be filmed in Dubai once
Jimmy
releases.
Murderer
should also be out this year. While Jimmy is a thriller revolving around a kid who goes through hell,
Murderer
, as the title indicates, is a whodunnit with Mimoh as one of the usual suspects.
Sippy exults in the fact that Mithun chose him over 1500 directors to launch Mimoh and pronounces that the son is better than the father. Why was his debut delayed then? Mimoh’s been ‘arriving’ for the last two years?
“
Jimmy
would have released last year had it not been for a song which we added. It’s the kid’s launch, we had to go the extra mile,” Sippy reasons.
Dutt’s the way
Mimoh will also be playing Sachin’s role in the remake of
Sattee Pe Satta
. It was Sanjay Dutt who suggested the idea of a remake.
And Sippy, who is in talks with Dutt for the double role played by Amitabh Bachchan in the original, is optimistic that the actor will be able to adjust his dates to accommodate the film.
Casting for the other roles hasn’t started yet but Sippy’s wish list includes Arshad Warsi, Sharman Joshi, Rani Mukherji andVidya Balan . “Rani would be the perfect choice for Hema Malini’s role and Vidya can step in for the paralysed Ranjeeta ,” he muses.
“The new
Don
has boosted my confidence in remakes.”
Golmaal
returnsSippy is also planning a remake of Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s
Golmaal
. And he has Amitabh Bachchan in mind for Utpal Dutt’s role. “I’ve already made a call to Mr Bachchan and am waiting to meet and appraise him,” he informs.
For the double role of Ramand Shyam played brilliantly by Amol Palekar, Sippy’s first choice is again Sanjay Dutt.
Rimoh’s choice
Sippy would like to get started on
Golmaal
by September-October before moving to the more ambitious
Satte Pe Satta
in 2009. Interestingly, Rimoh, Mithun’s other son who’s an aspiring director, could be assisting Sippy on
Satte Pe Satta
.
“The kid is very fond of me and I’ve been given to understand by his parents that he too wants to start off with me. It’s a big high!” says Sippy, adding that some time in the future he’d like to bring Mithun and Mimoh on screen together, playing father and son.
