Mumbai to host workshop on Bimal Roy

Ashutosh Gowarikar will inaugurate a workshop - 'Enduring Image: Bimal Roy' in the memory of the legendery filmmaker here on February 23.

A number of experts will throw light on different aspects like human relationships and music in Roy's films in the workshop, which will be organised by the Bimal Roy memorial committee (BRMC).

On March one, BRMC will also stage a musical programme 'Smriti Sandhya' in Roy's memory which will feature Manna Dey, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Jasvinder Singh and others.

BRMC, which continues to honour cinema of social commitment and humanism that represents the vision of Roy, has also honoured veterans like Vyjayantimala, Kamini Kaushal, Ameen Sayani, Sunil Dutt and Waheeda Rehman.

It showcased the works of Waheeda Rehman in 2000 and is now planning to showcase the films of Sunil Dutt, Dilip Kumar, Suchitra Sen, Kishore Kumar and other veterans with special retros.
