Nagpanchami celebrated with fervour, gaiety
THE FESTIVAL of Nagpanchami was celebrated with traditional fervor and gaiety in Varanasi on Sunday. Several religious and wrestling events were organised at different places to mark the occasion.

A wrestling competition was organised at Kashi Vyayamshala at Raj temple in Varanasi. Another wrestling competition was organised at Kotwa village in Sarnath area to mark the occasion.
Similarly, several wrestling competition were organised in the different Akharas and Vyayamshalas through out the city to celebrate the festival. Members of Chaurasia Samaj took out a religious procession from Pandariba that concluded at Sanatan Dharm Inter College in Nai Sarak area.
A number of makeshift shops selling colour photos of Lord Krishna and Lord Vishnu dod brisk business in different localities.
People have great religious faith in this festival and women celebrate Nagpanchami for the prosperity and peace of their family members.
A debate competition was also organised at a Nagkup near Nagkupeshwer Mahadeo temple in Jaitpura area on Sunday. Snake-charmers were the center of attraction in the city.
