Narayan Dutt, Mishra to be honoured
MAKHANLAL CHATURVEDI National University of Journalism and Mass Communication will honour two eminent scholars- veteran journalist Narayan Dutt and Hindi litterateur Krishna Bihari Mishra - with a Doctorate of Literature on the occasion of its first convocation on October 30.

Vice President of India Bhairon Singh Shekhawat will be the chief guest at the convocation. On this day, the university will also formally shift to its own building in the Press Complex. The university has bought the six-storeyed ‘Vikas Bhawan’ of the Madhya Pradesh State Cooperative Agriculture and Rural Development Bank having built-up area of 52,000 square feet.
Giving details about the preparations for the convocation and background of the university, Vice-Chancellor Achutanand Mishra told newsmen that since its foundation in 1991, the journalism university has progressed steadily by introducing new courses, setting up study centres and undertaking research projects. At present, the university had 63 media study centres and 514 computer centres across the country where more than 50,000 students were enrolled.
The university has also introduced from the current session a foundation course for one semester in postgraduate level. Under this, students were being provided basic knowledge about journalism, mass communication and India’s cultural heritage.
