The holy town of Kawnai in Igatpuri tehsil of the district near Nashik is getting ready for the August 25 royal bath - Shahi Snan.
"Kawnai is believed to be the first place where Kumbh Mela was held since ages. However, after a dispute between various akhadas during the Peshwa regime, it was later shifted to Nashik and Trimbakeshwar in year 1700," according to Mahant Phalhari Baba of Kapildhara Kawnai town.
The mahants and sadhus will take the snan (bath) on the Parvani day, an auspicious day, at Kawnai which is surrounded by hills from all sides.
