"We have asked the government to form a committee comprising a musician, a litterateur, a composer, and a political scientist to select the new national anthem," said Hari Prasad Neupane, committee secretary.

The committee has sent all 37 proposals to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers for selection.

The existing anthem was seen as an eulogy to the Shah dynasty, he said.

The anthem proposals have been sent in by people ranging from businessman to government staff. One of the proposal was sent in on behalf of the late renowned poet Laxmi Prasad Devkota. The committee has also asked people to recommend for a new seal of the Nepal Government.
