New Zealand make two changes to the side who lost to England in Hobart on Tuesday with Michael Mason replacing injured paceman Shane Bond and batsman Hamish Marshall coming in for off spinner Jeetan Patel.

Fleming promotes himself up the order to open the innings with Nathan Astle while Brendon McCullum was shuffled down to bat at seven. Fleming drives Bracken square for the first boundary of the match in the second over but New Zealand's joy is short-lived.

The Kiwis lose their first wicket in the third over when Astle edges Lee behind to wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist without scoring. Lee strikes again in his next over when he gets Marshall for a duck in identical fashion.

Fleming and Ross Taylor steady the innings with a 31-run partnership for the third wicket before they both hole out to Mike Hussey at mid-off off Clark.

Fleming is the first to go, throwing his wicket away on 12, when he mistimes a drive off Clark's first delivery.

Taylor, who made 84 against the Australians last week, departs for 25 this time when he skies a catch to a back-pedalling Hussey off Clark's third over.

Clark captures his third wicket when Peter Fulton nicks a straightforward catch to Hayden at slip for 19.

New Zealand reach 100 after 30 overs as Craig McMillan and McCullum both smash sixes in a 42-run stand for the sixth wicket before Glenn McGrath traps McCullum lbw for 15.

Clark captures his fourth wicket when Daniel Vettori fends a short ball straight to Ricky Ponting at second slip for six. 136-7.

McMillan reached his half-century off 64 balls in 96 minutes with a single off Clark. McMillan and James Franklin add 56 for the eight wicket in 39 balls before Frankin is caught in the deep by Hayden off McGrath for 18. 193-8.

McMillan cuts Lee for six but falls 11 short of his hundred when he is caught and bowled off a waist-high full toss from McGrath.

Nathan Bracken bowls Mason four to finish off the innings, leaving Mark Gillespie stranded on six. 218 all out from 47.4 overs.

Australia lose their first wicket in the second over when Gilchrist is caught behind by McCullum off Franklin for three. Hayden departs for a duck in the next over when he is caught by Taylor at short cover off Mason.

Australia lose their third wicket when Ponting is trapped lbw by Mason for five. Clarke is dropped by Franklin at backward square leg on 16.

Clarke and Andrew Symonds bring up their 50 partnership in 37 minutes off 52 balls.

Symonds is bowled by Vettori for 38 in the 20th over when he plays on with a faint inside edge. Hussey survives a run out on 18 when Marshall throw to Vettori who drops the ball and breaks the stumps with his hand.

Clarke survives a second dropped catch off McCullum on 42 before reaching his half-century off 92 balls in 131 minutes with a quickly taken single off Franklin.

Clarke's luck runs out on 75 when he top edges Vettori and Taylor takes a high, juggling catch at midwicket.

New Zealand capture their sixth wicket when Cameron White slogs Gllespie straight down the throat of Gillespie at deep midwicket on five.
