No Coke, Pepsi in Kerala government guest houses

Coca Cola and Pepsi brands of soft drinks would be banned in Govt guest houses in Kerala and would not be served during parties thrown by the Govt.

The Coca Cola and Pepsi brands of soft drinks would be banned in Government guest houses in Kerala and would not be served during parties thrown by the Government, state Parliamentary Affairs Minister MM Hassan told the assembly on Friday.
 
Replying to a private member's resolution in the house, Hassan said these brands of soft drinks would also not be sold in Government canteens.

The state planned to revise the Food Adulteration Act and a draft suggesting changes had been submitted to the Centre for approval, the minister said. The changes would facilitate creation of a state food authority to tackle the menace of food adulteration more effectively, he added.

The resolution, for which notice was given by KK Ramachandran (Congress), was presented by TN Prathapan (Congress).
