The Grievance Committee of Allahabad University has rejected the demand of students for increasing seats in PG and UG courses at its meeting held with the student leaders here late on Friday evening.
Members of Committee— Dean Students Welfare Prof Jagdamba Singh, Proctor Prof Jata Shankar and Chairman Board of Trustees Dr GK Rai— held a meeting with student leaders including Rajesh Singh, Suresh Yadav and Abhishek Shukla.
The members initially proposed to increase seats in political science, philosophy and ancient history but the student leaders reportedly remained stuck to their demand of increasing seats in all subjects. Consequently the Committee members finally withdrew their proposal and outrightly rejected the demand of seat hike.
They also decided that there would be no change in the hostel fee structure.
However the committee has decided to recommend to the VC Prof Rajen Harshe to start bus service for girl students, said DSW Prof Jagdamba Singh.
