No taint on tech city’s image, says IT industry
This city's image won’t be tarnished because three of the suspects in the UK terror plots happen to be from Bangalore, reports BR Srikanth.
This city's image won’t be tarnished because three of the suspects in the UK terror plots happen to be from here. Brand Bangalore is here to stay. So said the information technology industry and brand experts.
Bangalore, home to more than 1,500 IT and ITES companies and 4,00,000 employees, will continue to draw more companies, added the state government.
Bangalore is confident of getting over this bad phase, primarily because clients of companies like Infosys have not shown any apprehension in the aftermath of the detentions of Dr Kafeel Ahmed, Dr Sabeel Ahmed and Dr Mohammed Haneef. “Our clients are not disturbed. Terrorism is a global phenomenon… We have taken measures to safeguard our employees, clients and business,” said S Gopalakrishnan, CEO and managing director, Infosys.
A spokesman for Mindtree Consulting said: “A single instance of terror suspects from here will not damage the reputation of Bangalore as an IT destination.”
Officials in the CM’s secretariat said they were confident the city would retain its lead in attracting IT firms. “The confidence (in the city) won’t diminish.”
