Noise pollution defies all norms in Aligarh

However, residents of Gandhi Park, Railway Road, Sari Hakim, Agra Road and G.T. road have to bear with highest level of noise pollution. Gandhi Park where is the hub of all activities, is the worst affected with in the city.

Surprisingly the civil hospital and Gandhi Eye hospital areas, which are considered a silence zone has high level of noise pollution.

Against the permissible level of 50 decibel in the daytime, the area has recorded 85.6 in the day and 70.4 in the night against the normal of 40 at night, thus posing a severe threat to the residents of the localities.

According to Dr. Deepak Varshney a prominent medical practitioner of Aligarh 90 decibel level can impair human hearing and can lead to hypertension and deafness. He says the normal permissible level for noise pollution is 60 decibel. If the areas are categorized into industrial, commercial and residential, then the industrial areas of Aligarh should have noise level of 65 decibel, whereas the noise should be around 60.55 in the G.T, Road, Railway road and Dodhpur areas. The silence zone around Gandhi Eye Hospital and civil hospitals should have a noise level of around 40 decibel.
